Whoa, that's really awesome! I love how the shot is from below the water. The man above the water is very handsome. And I love the placement of the tentacles! Very cool!

How lovely, beautiful, and a little sad. I would love to be able to know more about the characters.

Am I right in assuming this is not a natural pool,
the fish seem very ornamental?

What a great feeling of a story behind this piece. It is a true illustration of a moment, not just a cool image. It looks like the two figures have similar features and diadems - it makes the viewer wonder if they are brother forever separated by some sort of magic. It's a wonderful illustration and you should be very proud.

Yes, I was thinking the pool was artificial and maybe part of a larger complex of gardens and temples or something, thus the broken columns and ornamental fish. I don't know how much sense that makes, though. X) Maybe it's very deep (more so than a casual observer would be able to tell from the surface), or fed by an underwater stream or is close to sea. ^^;

When I first glanced at it, I thought that perhaps the sea-creature-man was captured and placed into the artificial pool by a King - as if he was just there for display like the ornamental fish.

Thus, creating a tragic love story when the Prince of the kingdom falls in love with the sea creature and wants to set him free! XD
