Artist's Comments

Just playing around with some new painting methods. I finally checked out Andrew Jones' tutorials over at conceptart.org, and finally Painter X is starting to make sense and actually be useful! ;) I've struggled with Painter X for ages (I could never get the brushes to do what I wanted them to, like I could with Painter 6.1) and hadn't used it in months because it just wasn't worth the hassle. I'm really excited about using Painter now, though. :D That tutorial was the best $15 I've spent a long time. ;)

That said, I know this is all sloppy and I should probably spend time polishing it more >_>

Oh gosh, you are struggling with Painter too? I just bought Painter 11. I think the brushes are really hard to get the hang of. A lot of the artists I see who like Painter usually stick with the oil pastels. It seems like such an awesome program if I could only figure it out! I think I also keep trying to use it like I use Photoshop (lots of cropping, resizing areas, cutting and pasting) and I need to realise it is not a photo editor with realistic media brushes, it's a realistic brush simulator with some photo editing capabilities ;)
